About

Marina Stander is a South African artist who draws her inspiration from the world around her.

Although she mainly uses watercolours, Marina also enjoys using other media such as oils, acrylics, pencils and ink. She occasionally also experiments with mixed media and creates artworks with fountain pen ink, coffee and bleach using watercolour techniques.

A unique aspect of many of Marina's artworks is that they are painted on recycled braille paper. Due to the density of braille paper, it cannot be recycled through traditional methods. Marina discovered that painting on the braille paper her husband Chris, who is blind, no longer uses creates interesting works of art.

Marina likes to paint things that evoke emotion in some way: music, children, hands, friends, animals and nature are just some of the things that inspire her work.
